A LOVING CHURCH IS: *defined by the quality of caring, not the age of the chruch *a "home" where one's fears, joys, yearnings, and aspirations can be shared without fear of condemnation and rejection * a place for friends who can be trusted, depended upon, enjoyed, and who share the same goals *where God's love is experienced in a concrete way through His people *Where imperfections are accepted...where people discover their greatest potential...where they feel loved *where members grow as individual differences are accepted, and where distinctions of personal rights, possessions, thoughts, emotions, actions are submerged in commitment to each other and the Kingdom of God *unconditional in its acceptance of persons...and prides a place where there is opportunity for Christian service and ministry *where people laugh with others--not at others; cry with other--not because of others; forgive others--and are forgiven by others; love others--and are loved by others. ~~From the Win Arn GROWTH REPORT number 8
CHURCH WIDE ROUND TABLE Sunday, November 16, 2008, 4:00 PM The newly formed "Whole Life Steward Team" met for the first time last Sunday, Nov. 2. This team consists of 12 members (plus the pastor) by virtue of their leadership position in our church. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the present economic climate: "Wall Street, Main Street, and it's effect on our Church." Especially now as we conclude our Stewardship Campaign and work the process of building our church budget for2009. The action step agreed upon by the team was to have a "Round Table-Church-Wide" Sunday afternoon, November 16, in lieu of the regular finance committee meeting. The Round Table is for every interested person. It is important that the Administartive Board members. Council on Ministry members (present and newly elected for 2009), and committee members be in attendance for the discussion of "Wall Street, Main Street And Its Effect On Our Church." I hope to see you there.

ICE CREAM DISCIPLES NEED YOU
| When was the last time you sang songs with a dozen or so troubled teenage girls, listened to their concerns, prayed with them and then served them ice cream? This is what the Ice Cream Disciples do on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. A group of us go to the Coosa Valley Youth Services Attention Home to share our faith through music, devotionals, prayer, fellowship and ice cream. The Ice Cream Disciples include: Ralph Drake, Chris Brightbill, Robin Hodges, Cathy Rose, Debbie Mosakowski, Ken Lege, and Bruce and Evonne Cunningham. We would love to have some new blood join us for this special time of sharing and receiving blessings. Watch for the date in our church neewsletter and join us. |

KIDS 1ST
| Does it all start with the childhood game of Hide and Seek? I wtch the children play this on a regular basis...and really the most fun is when they are found and it's a race to "home." What happens as we get older?...We get hung up on the "hiding." We become masters at hiding behind a smile, hiding a hurt deep inside...and we don't want these things to be found. Because of Christ we don't have to hide. HIS scars heal our hurts and pains...turning to the One who created us exactly as He wanted us to be. Let's run with joy the race for home! "Cast our cares on the LORD and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous fall." Psalm 55:22.(NIV) |

CHLDREN'S CHOIR NOTES
| This week we started back to rehearsals and Crosswalk. I was so happy to see all of you again. I missed "my 6th graders" who are now gone into the 7th grade. Do invite your friends to come with you each week--even if they are not members of FUMC. We will continue to strive to "Make beautiful music together" and with some new instruments. Come and bring you "mind, spirit and voice." Please also ask your parents to sign up to be Choir Parents this year. We all have special places in the church and we hope to see more parents involved this year.
Musically yours in Christ,
Susie Dempsey |
