The
Friendship Class is made up of older adults, couples and singles. This is a
very loving and caring group. We have coffee and a greeting time before each
class. We take an offering which is used for mission projects, memorials and
member needs. We use the New International Lesson as our study guide. Members
take turns teaching (voluntary only). There is some lecture and some discussion
each week. We have occasional get-togethers outside class. Meets: Next to Library (2d floor).
Membership Class: Four class taught quarterly by Associate Pastor. Open to all (must register). Topics include: baptism, communions, and major beliefs of the United Methodist Church. Meets: Conference Room(1st floor)..
New Life:
The New Life Sunday School Class
is a thought-provoking study group offering information, support and fellowship
that will enhance Christian growth. Our goal is to educate, network, and apply
our beliefs using relevant and challenging Bible-based materials. We are a
small group which allows ample opportunity for class discussion and we rotate
teaching responsibilities. Recent studies include C.S. Lewis' Mere
Christianity, Twelve Ordinary Men, and Stroebel's Case for Christ
and Case for a Creator.
Pairs and Spares:
The Pairs and
Spares Class is an eclectic group of believers eager to learn and share. The
class is made up of a broad range and diverse occupations. The teaching style
is free-flowing, Bible-based, and indicidually taught. Everyone is encouraged
to teach, but not required. We take up an offering weekly as led, there are two
major fundraisers annually, and then we use these monies to support a variety
of mission outreach opportunities. The class has frequent social gatherings for
fellowship. This class is a loving, compassionate, caring group who likes to
laugh and is grateful for God's grace.Meets: (2nd floor).
Pathfinders:
Our group of mostly retired
adults participates in a relaxed, informal Bible study. Volunteers rotate
teaching duties using the international Bible studies published by Cokesbury.
Our weekly offerings pay for our literature and fund missions and outreach
projects. Our projects have included painting and other maintenance projects
for needy homeowners in the community. We also support JCOC in their school
supply distribution and their Toyland at Christmas. Meets: PC/JOY Room (1st Floor).
Seekers:
The Seekers
Sunday School Class is a small Bible-based class. Our class accepts all ages
and has ranged in age from early 30s to mid 80s (when Martha Howell was a part
of our class). Because we are a small class we are able to have relaxed group
discussions. We are willing to accept each others opinions even when they
differ from our own. We take turns teaching as people are willing and have traditionally
used literature purchased through Cokesbury. Class members are given the
opportunity to view the current Cokesbury catalog and make suggestions as to
what they'd like to study. We do take up an offering which is used for purchase
of literature and donations throughout the year to different organizations such
as youth, children, and JCOC. Meets: Down from the office and just past the restrooms (1st floor).
Genesis:
The Genesis Class is comprised of both couples and
single adults from our church family. Most members of this class regularly
attend the New Community service. The teaching responsibilities rotate
throughout the year from members of the class. We often utilize a DVD / study
guide combination. This offers the opportunity for class discussion and study.
Our weekly offerings support mission opportunities within the church, our
community and beyond.
