Sunday School

Adult Sunday School Classes

New Outlook: This class if for those in their 20s or 30s, single or married, college students or beginning careers. Focus is on Bible Study and contemporary culture issues.  Meets in Melisa's office.
 
Friendship Class: This "friendly group" is a lecture based Sunday School Class that is open to all ages. Meets: Next to Library (2d floor). Contact: Martha Gibson 782-9165

The Genesis Group: This group is a discussion based Sunday School Class. They are Bible focused.  Meets: Next to stairway & elevator (2d floor). Contact: Kenton Mallett (435-4949

Membership Class: Four class taught quarterly by Associate Pastor. Open to all (must register). Topics include: baptism, communions, and major beliefs of the United Methodist Church. Meets: Conference Room(1st floor)..

New Beginnings: The Sunday School class for people who traditionally don't like Sunday School, this class is an eclectic, discussion-based group covering a wide range of material. Members of the class take turns leading discussions on a volunteer basis. Formed shortly after the 9/11 tragedy, this class is one of the fastest growing groups at JFUMC. Age is no factor...only attitude! We enjoy the free exchange of ideas and beliefs, and we feel that we each grow spiritually from the sharing of opinions with each other. Email updates and prayer requests are sent out each week to those who wish to participate. Pairs and Spares: This group is a lecture/discussion oriented Sunday School Class. They offer fellowship and outreach opportunities throughout our church and community. Meets: Small Fellowship Hall (1st floor). Contact: Mandee Brown - 435-9437

Pathfinders: This group is both lecture and discussion based. They are involved in outreach projects in the community, social activities within the class, love "eating socials", support the CARE Team. Meets: PC/JOY Room (1st Floor). Mary Luallen; 435-5834
 
Paul and Timothy: This class is a lecture/discussion based Bible study format.  There are a variety of ages and backgrounds represented and everyone is welcome. Meets: Long hallway (2d floor). Keela Rowan; 435-0296.

Reuben Self/Grace: This group is a discussion/lecture based Sunday School Class. They use the Adult Bible Study Series for their classes. Meets: Long hallway (2d floor). Edwerta Carpenter; 435-6265

Seekers: This group is a "wide open, flexible" discussion based Sunday School Class consisting of both singles and couples of all ages. Members select and teach a variety of Bible based materials. Meets: Down from the office and just past the restrooms (1st floor). Jan Rhodes; 435-4465. 

Unity: This class is specifically designed to minister to the needs of the single, married, widowed, or divorced adult of any age. Varied Bible-based topics are presented in lecture/discussion format.  Meets: Across from restrooms (1st floor). Judy Anderson; 435-6892.

Equipping Parents This class, comprised of married and single parents, is a discussion group committed to building strong families, personal relationships, and spiritual benefits through studying and walking hand-in-hand with Christ. The class meets in the C-YA Classroom on the downstairs hall. For more information, please call Elizabeth Renfroe at 435-8357.

Children's Sunday School Classes

The Children's Sunday School classes meet from 9:45-10:30.
We have classes from Toddlers to Senior High.

Toddlers (15 mo - 2 yrs)
Preschool (3 - 4 yrs)
Kindergarten (5 yrs)
First and Second Graders
Third and Fourth Graders
Fifth and Sixth Graders
Junior High (7th and 8th Graders)
Senior High (9th - 12th Graders)
