Community Thanksgiving Meal
Community Thanksgiving Meal
Every year for over twenty years, St. Luke's Episcopal Church has served a Thanksgiving meal which is open to the community. Jacksonville First UMC now partners with St. Luke's to keep this tradition going. This ministry has grown into an annual event for our community. As many as 800 people are fed each year.
On Thanksgiving Day, people from our community can enjoy a complete Thanksgiving meal. This year we will be provide the meals from the McWhorter Activity Center (MAC) at Jacksonville First UMC. Meals may be ordered for delivery or picked up on Thanksgiving Day as well. Meals may be reserved (within specific calling times during the week prior to Thanksgiving) by calling St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.
This event would not be possible each year without the help of many people. Before the Community Thanksgiving Meal, volunteers donate to cover the cost of food purchases. They also cook hams or turkeys and provide desserts. During the event, volunteers serve on delivery teams or on the serving line. If you would like to donate or volunteer contact the church office.
The Community Thanksgiving Meal is a joint ecumenical effort which blesses everyone who participates, diners and volunteers alike!
