Palm Sunday
Jesus and his friends arrived in Jerusalem to celebrate the festival of Passover. News had spread that Jesus was on the way and a huge crowd gathered, they put their coats on the floor and grabbed palm leaves to wave. What a surprise when Jesus arrived, he was riding on a young donkey! It was just as the prophet Zechariah had written over 400 years before:
“Rejoice greatly, people of Jerusalem! Shout for joy, people of Jerusalem! Your king is coming to you. He does what is right, and he saves. He is gentle and riding on a donkey, on the colt of a donkey.” Zechariah 9:9
Ask each other these questions while traveling to the next location:
What would you do if a King visited you?
Why did the people lay palm branches and cloaks before Jesus?
What do you think it would have been like to see Jesus riding into the city on Palm Sunday?
What are some ways that we can treat Jesus like a King? (reading the Bible, telling others about Him, praying to Him, etc.)
