🐾 Blessing of the Animals at Jacksonville First UMC 🐾

All creatures, great and small, the Lord God made them all.

This past Sunday, our church family gathered for a joyful Blessing of the Animals service in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals and the environment. It was a beautiful reminder that every living creature is a cherished part of God’s creation.

From wagging tails and gentle purrs, our gathering was filled with life, laughter, and love. Pastor Andy offered blessings over dogs, cats, bunnies, and more—each accompanied by their devoted humans. Together, we celebrated the special bond between people and their pets, giving thanks for the companionship and unconditional love they bring into our lives.

As we reflected on St. Francis’s example of compassion and care for all God’s creatures, we were reminded that creation itself is a gift to be honored and protected.

Thank you to everyone who attended, and shared their furry friends with us. Your presence made the day truly special.
